On Day 6 I asked you to visualize yourself at the end of the month having reached your goal.
You created a clear mental picture of yourself a number of pounds lighter than where you are now.
I then asked you to find your compelling why.
What is your compelling reason for wanting this particular outcome?
In doing this, you created an image of your future self.
Now it’s time to develop that relationship with her (or him).
Developing the relationship with your future self is the most important part of the process for achieving your goal weight AND for achieving any other goal that you desire.
Today I want you to take some time and think about the kind of relationship you want with her.
Do you want to take care of her?
Do you want to make sure she’s proud of you?
Are you willing to sacrifice now for her so she can benefit later?
Can you love her and understand her?
Some of this may sound very strange and “woo woo” to you.
I totally get it. It sounded strange to me, too, at first.
While you may have trouble thinking about your relationship with your future self, just think about the continuum of time in general.
There’s the past, the present and the future.
Starting on Day 8, I will discuss creating a protocol or plan in the present for your future self by looking to your past.
You’ve likely created plans before.
But they didn’t stick.
The reason is because you created those plans in a vacuum with only the present in mind.
When you understand and nurture the different parts of yourself and the nature of time, you can make plans in the present for your future by honoring your past in a way you have never done before.
