Mistake #2: Believing You Should Be Different Than You Are
They should have a kinder, more patient mom.
They should have a stay at home mom vs. one that works or vice versa.
They should have a mom who works part-time rather than full-time.
They should have a mom who works less or doesn’t have to take call at night.
They should have a married mom if you’re a single or widowed mom.
They should have a thinner mom or a prettier mom.
They should have a mom who is more adventurous or more active or a better cook or more organized.
The list goes on and on and on.
Please stop shoulding on yourself!!!
Here’s the truth …
You are exactly the mom your child should have.
You are the perfect mom for them.
With all your flaws and imperfections, there is no better mom out there for your child.
How do we know you are exactly the mom they should have?
Because you are the mom that they have.
If they were supposed to have a different mom, then they would. That’s how the world works. We don’t want to believe it’s true, but it is.
Do you want to know how things are supposed to be? Take a look around you. How they are right now is how they are supposed to be, because they are.
According to Byron Katie, when you argue with reality, you lose, but only 100% of the time.

So let’s face reality.
You are exactly the mom your child needs.
This wasn’t a mistake.
Your child’s journey depends on you being their mom.
And your journey depends on them being your child.
Now go be the best you that you are meant to be, warts, bumps and all.
