Brain and Body Reboot Day 6 – Picture and Purpose

On Day 5 I showed you how to turn the obstacles that came up for you when thinking about your personal goal for the month into a roadmap that will lead to your success.

Now we are going to go a bit deeper and really have you paint the picture in your mind of where you want to be on May 31st 2022.

Close your eyes and picture yourself there.

I want you to really visualize yourself at your goal weight at the end of the month.

What are you wearing?

Is it an outfit that has been sitting in your closet just waiting for it to finally fit?

Are you on the beach in a new bathing suit?

Are you at a graduation party or at an outdoor restaurant in a fun summery dress?

I want you to really imagine yourself at the end of this month.

For some of you this may be very challenging to picture yourself there because you just don’t believe you can do it.

Just play with me here and use the thought download and obstacle and strategy work you did to help you paint this picture.

Once this picture is clearly in your mind, ask yourself “What is my reason for wanting this?”.

Write it down.

Your reason doesn’t have to be lofty or noble or altruistic. It could be as simple as “I want to look good in a bathing suit”.

There is only one requirement for your reason.

It has to be compelling to YOU.

Your reason has to be more compelling than immediate gratification.

Once you have your picture and your purpose, you have created your “future self”.

Now you want to generate emotions from this future version of you.

How will I be feeling from that place of having lost X pounds?

What will I be doing?

What will I be thinking?

This entire process over this next month is about your relationship with your future self.

If your goal this month is to lose 6 pounds, then it is about the relationship between you 6 pounds heavier than your future self and you 6 pounds lighter than your present self.

What is that relationship like?

We will explore this more tomorrow on day 7.
