A powerful tool to see the world in a new way

There are things you learn in life that once you know, you can’t unknow. Or things you see that you can’t unsee. That’s how it felt when I learned about “The Model”. The Model is a construct developed by Brooke Castillo, founder of The Life Coach School, where I trained and certified as a life coach. The Model is not really any new information, but it is a new way of organizing information to show us the power of what we create with our mind.

The Model has five parts and everything in the world can be put into one of these five categories: Circumstances, Thoughts, Feelings, Actions and Results.

Circumstances are the neutral facts of our lives, the things outside of our control.

We then have thoughts about these circumstances. These are just sentences or phrases in our minds.

These thoughts create a feeling or emotion within us. Feelings are just vibrations in our body that start in our heads.

That feeling drives our actions. Actions are all the things we do or don’t do in response to the emotion we feel.

These actions then lead to results in our lives which tend to relate back or prove our original thoughts.

What makes this model so powerful is that you can take anything in your life, break it down into these five parts, and see exactly the result that you created and why. What’s even more powerful is that you can use this model to create any result you want.

The Model shines a light on our own minds and shows us that we have more control than we realize.

Sometimes the simplistic things are the most profound. When you begin to learn and apply this model to your everyday life, you no longer look at anything the same way again. A whole new world of possibilities opens up. All of a sudden, a veil has been lifted and everything becomes more clear.

Over the next month I will be breaking down the different parts of the Model and showing how you can apply it to your life and achieve any goal you desire, whether it’s losing weight, reducing burnout, creating more peace and joy at work or home, or anything else you want to achieve.

What have you learned that has shifted your perspective in a significant way?
