You’ve got a busy work day and week ahead.
You’re already tired and it’s only Monday.
You’re overbooked, overtired, and overwhelmed.
Your notes are still open at night or on the weekends.
You tell yourself it’s the system, the EMR, the patient load.
While those things do matter … they’re not the whole story.
The Real Problem Isn’t Lack of Time – It’s Thought Loops.
Our thoughts create our feelings. Our feelings create our actions.
When you think, “I don’t have time to finish this now,” you feel rushed. So you end up pushing it off, multitask, and end up working later.
I teach this framework using a tool called “The Model”, where we explore the root cause of our behavior, not just the symptoms. When you understand the root cause of your behavior, it is much easier to change it.
The Model helps us see the thought loops that can be so simple, yet play such a key role in our continued unwanted behavior.
Examples of Thought Loops
- “I’ll do this later” -> overwhelmed -> delay -> charts after hours
- “I have to write perfect notes” -> anxious -> over-document -> get behind
What Changed For Me
I started managing my mind, not just my schedule.
I practiced new thoughts like:
“I finish charts during clinic hours” and
“Done is better than perfect.”
I build a system that actually supports that belief and now my charts are consistently closed. I have more time for my life outside of work and for the people I love.
Want to Learn How?
I am planning to create a workshop on having chart-free evenings. Is this something that you would find useful to learn?
Please let me know if you are interested and I can start a waitlist as I create this workshop. If there is a different topic you would like, please let me know that as well. I look forward to hearing from you and how I can help.
