Parenting Mistake Number Six That Makes Our Life Harder

Mistake #6: Living by a To-Do List rather than a Results List

One of the most common words that most moms (myself included) use to describe their days and weeks is “busy”.

I’m SO busy.

There’s too much to do and not enough hours in a day.

I have a list a mile long. It’s never ending.

It’s true. There is a lot to do.

Most moms are juggling many hats at once and each one comes with a slew of responsibilities.

But there is enough time.

There’s actually more than enough time to do all the things AND have time for leisure and rest.

The problem isn’t time. It’s how we view time and how we manage (or mismanage) our minds around the construct of time.

Instead of living by a to-do list, what if you created a results list? Instead of listing all the tasks you need to accomplish, what if you started with the end in mind and listed all the results you wanted to achieve?

Are your daily tasks in line with your goals? If not, maybe it’s time to get them off your list.

When you wake up each morning, do you know what goals you want to accomplish that day? Or are you just flying by the seat of your pants and squeezing random tasks in here and there?

Where does your rest and fun fit in with all of this? What if you planned your rest and fun first?

Imagine what your life might look like if you first made room for the rest and fun, then the big goals and finally, all your small tasks which are aligned with those goals.

Imagine if you had a daily results list, planned ahead, in your calendar, ready to follow through on and accomplish each day.

You still may be busy, but you are now busy doing the things that actually matter to you. You can get more done in less time because you are focused and ready to create results.

Maybe it’s time to get rid of the mile long to-do list and think about the daily results you want to achieve instead.
